40 Day Prayer Commitment Day 2

Psalm 139 23&24

Search me [thoroughly], O God, and know my heart;
Test me and know my anxious thoughts;

And see if there is any wicked or hurtful way in me,
And lead me in the everlasting way.

I read this verse and a melody came to mind.
I decided to put the whole psalm to music, adjusting a few of the verses to fit with the structure of the song, but the meaning of the Psalm is completely in tact.

May it glorify our Lord!

Psalm 139 (Search Me O Lord)

arranged by Liz Dieleman, 2017

Search me, O Lord, and know my heart,

Try me and know my pain.

Clear away any grievances,

And lead me all the Way….

Lord You search me - Lord You know me

(my rising, sitting - You know my thoughts before the appear.)

Lord, You’re acquainted - You know it altogether

( before me - behind - You hedge is so high - I cannot attain)

Where can I go from Your spirit?

(heaven to hades, Lord You are there)

How to fall outside of space?

Search me, O Lord, and know my heart,

Try me and know my pain.

Clear away any grievances,

And lead me all the Way….

Surely darkness- shall fall upon me

(wings of the morning -

the light of your face, the night shines as day)

Shadowy in the womb was Your covering

(Fearfully, wonderful - marvel my soul, Your very work!)

Nothing is left out of the pages

(secret, the central part of the earth)

Your eyes inform the hidden frame

Search me, O Lord, and know my heart,

Try me and know my pain.

Clear away any grievances,

And lead me all the Way….

There is no number - that I could count to You

(The grains ofsand Lord -

precious Your thoughts, how great is the sum!)

I add the enemies who speak against You

( curses, loathing - vanity of profanity come)

Lord You trim from me the wicked

(Drive out the dragon wanton in blood)

Righteously anger, perfected love.

Search me, O Lord, and know my heart,

Try me and know my pain.

Clear away any grievances,

And lead me all the Way….
