Each year, Promise Bible Study offers a devotional series for the 40 days (a liturgical season called Lent) leading up to Easter/Resurrection Day, and Passover. We do this as a meditation to ready our hearts for what the Lord has prepared for us, and for His bride, the church.

This year’s theme is As It Is Written. The intent is to meditate on the written Word: that which we hear proclaimed, see and read with our eyes, and what we can pick up and hold in our hands: a treasure of God’s promises and truth. When in doubt, we can turn to what is written for hope. When confused, the Word offers clarity. When we want to teach, correct, worship, confirm: we pick up the Bible and let these holy passages inform us, through the Helper, the Holy Spirit, who enlightens our minds and illuminates the text.

We hope you enjoy these selected passages, chosen by Promise Bible Study community members as some of their favorites. May we hungrily devour these words as a daily sweet manna, our daily bread. Indeed, Christ is the Word, and just as we take and eat the Bread of Life when we celebrate communion, we are in fellowship with all believers - the communion of the saints - when we partake of the Word together.

What to expect:

Starting on Wednesday, February 21st, you will receive by email a daily scripture passage each morning, with a brief personalized response. The scripture verse will be on a graphic image that you can save to your mobile device to share in texts and on social media posts. You will receive an email for 40 consecutive days, ending on Resurrection Sunday, March 31st.

How to participate:

If you have already subscribed to the Promise Bible Study mailing list, you don’t have to do anything but check your email! (Including your “junk” folder in case you don’t see it.) If you have not subscribed, see the Sign Up box below to enter your name and email.

Please feel free to forward and share with others! It is this unity that we focus on at Promise Bible Study; we invite pastors, worship leaders, missionaries, and faithful brothers and sisters from around the world to contribute to our daily devotionals, illustrating the diverse and global reach of His presence, which we pray to share with a wide audience for strength and edification together.
