Book V Psalms 107-150
…delighting in Him and His Word…Psalm 37:4

Psalm 107:2 – The PBS Sisterhood – Psalms and Stories…let the redeemed of the Lord share their stories, faith, joy and hope.
Psalm 110:4 – Melchizedek is a priest-king and resembles Christ Himself – because Christ is King and a priest – though not of a priestly tribe.
Psalm 111:5 His Covenant Stands – Christ ratified this covenant of grace with His precious blood – Christ is the surety – He will not forget – may we also be mindful of His covenant.
Psalm 118:12 – The Stone the Builder Rejected – see Mark 12:10.
Psalm 119. Longest Psalm – most formal and elaborate. Takes a series of words (synonyms law/statutes/etc) and uses them interchangeably through the eight-verse sections and create a type of pattern. The author shows delight in his craftsmanship in contrast to the out pouring of the heart in Psalm 18. The 22 sections correspond to the alphabet.
Psalm 119:17 The Greatness and Glory of God’s Word. The Bible, as God’s Word, is the Author’s expression of His inner thought. Scripture is the revelation of the divine mind. “The Word” is found 22 times in Psalm 119.
Psalm 119:49 The Keynote - to this wonderful Psalm which magnifies the Word of God – is found in the Author’s prayer: Remember the Word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope. The petition “according to thy Word” occurs 12 times 25, 28, 41, 58, 76, 107, 116, 149, 154, 169, 170, while the declaration “I hope in thy word” is repeated 6 times 42, 43, 74, 81, 114 147.
Aside – Promises and Prayer. God’s unfailing PROMISES are given to stimulate prayer, not to supersede it; for, while everything good for us is PROMISED in answer to believing prayer, nothing is PROMISED apart from it. Our prayer must stand on the firm foundation of divine PROMISES.
Aside – Fulfilled Promises – purpose to glorify our Heavenly Father…
Psalm 119:89 & 90. Forever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven…in eternity we will be with our Heavenly Father, the author of the PROMISES, and we will discover truth to the mysteries hidden from us while we were in the flesh – we will know.
Psalm 119:105 and 130. Promise of illumination and guidance – Scripture and Christ are one:
Definition of Song of Ascents. : any one of 15 psalms in the series Psalms 120 to 134 sung by Hebrew pilgrims on their way to Jerusalem or possibly while ascending Mount Zion or the steps of the Temple —called also Gradual Psalm, Pilgrim Psalm, Psalm of Ascents.
Psalm 120. God is Just.
Psalm 121 – A gem. 1. He made Heaven and Earth – 2. He neither sleeps nor slumbers. Our security is the Lord’s responsibility. No worries. A PBS FAVORITE.
Psalm 122 God Gives Peace.
Psalm 123 God Is Merciful.
Psalm 124 God Always Provides Away Out.
Psalm 125:5 & 6. The Lord Surrounds Us – Now and Forever. Concern for the souls of others sown with tears will reap a joyful harvest.
Psalm 126 God Brings Joy.
Psalm 127:2 He Grants Sleep To Those He Loves. Ovid – “sleep, rest of nature…” a gift of the Creator Himself.
Psalm 128. God Blesses Obedience.
Psalm 130:4. God’s Love Will Not Fail – and God Forgives. Forgiveness, righteousness and trust – kissed each other at Calvary. If we confess our sin God has PROMISED forgiveness.
Psalm 131 God Is Enough For Us.
Psalm 132:11 Christ as the seed of David.
Psalms 133:1 – PBS – Unity. A PBS FAVORITE.
Psalm 136 His Love Endures Forever.
Psalm 137:6. Remember Him and His Word.
Psalm 138:7 Revival starts within us…
Psalm 140. He is great! We do not need to be anxious – for our enemies – God is our shield and He is great.
Psalm 141 God Gives Wisdom When We Ask.
Psalm 142 God Gives Us Rest.
Psalm 143 God Hears Us.
Psalm 144 God Will Train Us and Give Us Victory. JE to add the Seven Names of God.
Psalm 145 God Is Our Comforter. Verse 15 brings great comfort to know that the Lord is faithful to ALL His PROMISES.
Psalm 145:18 True Prayer. 1. God PROMISED whenever we need Him he is present. 2. He will only respond to us if we call upon Him in truth…which means our prayer must be in accord with His will. It is only then that He PROMISES to hear and answer.
Psalm 145:20. Promise to Preserve. Through His free and Sovereign grace He will preserve us from sin…let us walk with Him in love, wait upon Him and spend time in His Word,
Psalms 146 and 147 The Provided and Protects.
Psalm 148 The Waves and the Wind Know His Name.
Psalm 149 God Blesses Our Praise.
Psalm 150:1 We Will Always Have Reason To PRAISE THE LORD… Our study of Psalms ends with praising the Lord - where the word of the king is there is power; and our Sovereign Lord holds the reins of creation, redemption, prophecy, history and our personal life in His all-powerful hands.
