II Kings 8 Shunammite Woman. The Lord’s protection and provision. Elisha tells her to leave the land as there will be a seven (7) year famine. Upon her return the king just happens to be discussing the time that Elisha restored her son to life. She is given back her land. Obedience – restoration (including income and profit).
II Kings 8 to 18 Kings of Judah and Israel. They sinned as their forefathers did and worshipped idols.
II Kings 19 Enter Hezekiah. Verse 19 Hezekiah’s prayer…now Lord our God, deliver us…so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone, Lord, are God. Prayer is focused on glorifying the Lord. Hezekiah received his promise of deliverance because he understood his total dependence on the Lord. II Kings 19 Isaiah’s Prophesy. The Lord defeats the Assyrian army.
II Kings 20 Hezekiah’s Prayer for Extended Life – Answered.
II Kings 21:8. Obedience – Required Ingredient. A conditional Promise – based on obedience.
II Kings 22 Josiah. Josiah followed the ways of King David and renewed the Covenant with the Lord. He desecrated the high places. Chapter 23:21 Josiah set out an order to CELEBRATE the Passover. Passover had not been observed through the time of Judges to the kings of Israel and Judah.
II Kings 24:14 – the poorest of the people – a seed
II Kings 25 Jerusalem falls to Babylon.
For our time… How is the Lord directing our time – our focus – our priorities – our prayer time. He is a God of miracles. He is clear on His demands for our life. II Kings 17:12 – do we hate sin? Are we obedient?
